Local Food Security = 20,000 pounds
The SVFC Project
is setting a goal of giving away 20,000 pounds of fresh produce.
Wednesday afternoons the farm will be focused on growing, harvesting,
& delivery for the food pantries. Come on out to the farm and give a
hand. The food pantries we serve are:
- Buxton
Community Cupboard
- Hollis
Center Baptist Church Food Pantry
- Limington
Congregational Church Food Pantry
- Riverside
Methodist Church Food Pantry in Kezar Falls
- St.
Matthew’s Food Pantry in Limerick
- Standish
Food Pantry
- Catherine's
Cupboard in Steep Falls
- The
Root Cellar in Portland
The volunteer groups Cultivate of Support Solutions and Life
Works of Waban have taken
on the responsibility of growing a garden at the farm for the primary purpose of
giving food away to the Buxton Food Pantry. We appreciate their
willingness & dedication in all kinds of weather to work on this project.
In our last two fiscal years the SVFC project gave away over
10,000 pounds per year. This year we are expanding our total growing acreage to
enable us to give even more away!
